Abstract
The article presents the results of an experimental study of age-
related changes in blood testosterone concentration, the weight
of the testicles vesicular glands, the volume of their secretion,
and the content of fructose and citric acid in young bulls.
The study was conducted on bulls of the Podilsky line of the
Ukrainian Black-and-White dairy breed aged 1 to 13 months.
It was found that blood testosterone concentration increased
18-fold during this period, from 0.3 to 5.5 ng/ml. The weight
of the vesicular glands increased from 8.8 to 25.1 g between
4 and 13 months of age, while the volume of their secretion
increased from 0.54 to 4.07 ml. During the same period, the
concentrations of fructose and citric acid in the vesicular
glands secretion increased 13.1 and 7.6-fold, respectively.
Age-related correlations were demonstrated between serum
testosterone concentration, the vesicular glands weight, the
secretory volume, and the content of fructose and citric acid.
