Abstract

Cell nuclei have a complex shell structure that shields the genetic apparatus from the rest of the cytoplasm. It consists of two membranes outer and inner between which is the cavity of the perinuclear space. Importantly, the latter is associated with the lumen of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) due to the fact that the membrane of the EP is morphologically conjugated to the outer membrane of the nucleus; therefore, perinuclear space can be considered as a specific part of the ER.

Keywords: calcium, nucleus
