Effectiveness of intravenousimmunoglobulin treatment in ratswith experimental allergicencephalomyelitis

Abstract

The aim of our study was to investigate effectiveness of intra- venous immunoglobulin treatment at experimental allergic encephalomyelitis (EAE). EAE was induced by the adminis- tration of adult rat spinal cord homogenates with Freund’s adjuvant. All rats were divided into three groups: the first group received intraperitoneal injections of human intrave- nous immunoglobulin in dose 0,5 g/kg from 12th to 16th day after induction of EAE; the second group received intraperito- neal injections of rat intravenous immunoglobulin in dose 0,5 g/kg from 12th to 15th day after induction of EAE; and the third group was a control group. We observed more rapid and full recovery from EAE in rats treated with intravenous immunoglobulin.
