Abstract

The serum content of interleukines (IL) IL1β, IL6, IL8, tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α), soluble form of TNF-α receptor R1 (sTNF-α-R1), C-reactive protein (CRP), prokalcitonin in patients with acute and chronic inflammation in the abdomen was investigated. Established that in acute mesadenitis the level of TNF-α, IL1β, IL6, IL8 level increased within 5-20 pg/ml. In acute phlegmonous appendicitis IL1β increased at 20 times, IL8 – in 24 times, prokalcitonin – 40 times CRP – 11 times relative to control. Gangrenous form of acute appendicitis is characterized by increased level of TNF-α 7 times, IL8 – in 20 times, СRP – 19 times, prokalcitonin – 374 times higher then control. In abdominal tuberculosis the level of TNF-α increased 3 times, IL1β in 5 times, IL8 – 8 times relative to control. The integrated determining of cytokine profile in patients with chronic and acute diseases of the abdominal cavity is promising to improve differential diagnosis.

Keywords: cytokines; acute inflammation; abdominal tuberculosis; C-reactive protein; proсalcitonin
